A boy from Bude decided to raise money for his local air ambulance after hearing an advert on the radio.
Josh Harp, five, heard an advert on the radio about raising money for the Devon Air Ambulance and wanted to hold a cake sale to help out.
Chantal Harp, Josh’s mother, reached out the Co-op, Sainsburys and Morrisons in Bude, as well as the Lansdown bakery, The Bakery and Polmorla@13 who all offered to donate to Josh’s sales. Josh also received a large donation from Peck and Strong Bakery.
After gathering a good number of cakes and with help from Devon Air Ambulance who created some posters to advertise the bake sale, Josh and Chantal decided to hold two sales — the first at Jacobstowe Community Primary School and the other at a local park. The first sale at Josh’s school tied in with an Alice in Wonderland themed day at school which meant he could hold his own ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’. This sale alone raised £103.11. The next sale was held at Marhamchurch village were another £87.36 was raised.
Due to the generosity of the bakeries, outlets and friends, Josh was able to hold a third sale at a local junior parkrun which brought the total amount raised to £248.
Josh and his mother then visited Bideford Air Ambulance to present them with the donations.
