Intrepid adventurers from Bude have taken on a real physical challenge in aid of a local animal charity.
This summer owners of Wags Canine Services Anna Byrne and Theo Sampson came up with the idea to climb Snowdon with their dog Maiva to raise money for Animal Free Research UK and Margaret Green Animal Rescue.
Anna said: “I thought what better way to raise money for these two amazing causes than to take on a real physical challenge. Sophie Hoveman from Stable Door Pets was keen to join us and one of my customers Helen Graves jumped onboard too. We held a raffle & sold cakes to bump up funds and then the day came and we were off”
Little did they realise that September 30 would bring a storm to the area and their best laid plans to climb a more challenging track were thwarted when the guides closed all routes except the most straightforward. Even that proved a difficult path and Anna sustained an injury missing her footing on the ascent.
They were jubilant to make it to the summit and to raise an amazing £1,360 to split between the two charities.
Anna added: “Thank you to everyone who donated raffle prizes, bought cakes, donated to our fundraising page and Stable Door Pets and The Barge for raising money for us. Bude community really is very special. Now for the next challenge…”
