THERE was a special meeting of the Tregadillett Brownies held to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The theme for the evening was a Buckingham Palace garden party. All the girls got dressed up in their best clothes, those suitable to attend a garden party.

As the Queen is known for her fondness of horseracing, the Brownie pack held their own races. This involved four thoroughbred horses printed onto some cardboard, attached to a long loop of string around some chairs.

The girls then had to pull their horse to victory. They had to have several ‘heats’ so that all the girls had the chance to have a go.

At the end they had a grand final, with one girl taking home the mini Gold Cup.

The girls also joined in decorating a fan with jewels so they wouldn’t get too hot when they attend the theatre.

Brown Owl, Sarah Fuge, just happened to have 24 polystyrene pizza bases in the wardrobe that were perfect for the job.

Sarah said: “The girls all had great fun and did a fantastic job of decorating their fans and the results were super.”

At the end of the evening, everyone enjoyed some refreshments at the ‘garden party’.

Sarah added: “It was a lovely evening that was a little hectic but very enjoyable!”
