Urgent action needs to be taken to stop speeding taxis in Tenby, before a serious incident occurs, local councillors again claimed this week.
Recently, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown reported that something needed to be done to curb taxi drivers entering and exiting the town at high speeds, before someone was hurt, stating that the culprits were acting like 'boy racers'.
At Tuesday night's meeting of the town council, Clr. Mrs, Brown again called for action to be taken and information to be passed on to the town's Inspector Mark McSweeney, who had recommended that Pembrokeshire County Council might require some form of evidence to consider altering speed limits within the town.
"It's mainly Friday and Saturday nights this occurs, starting after 9 pm, and over the last three to four hours of the pubs and restaurants in the town being open," she said.
"From my knowledge of working at the De Valence, the problem is horrendous up Upper Frog Street.
"I hope the police will support us in asking for a 20 mph speed limit in the town," continued Clr. Mrs. Brown.
The Mayor, Clr. Paul Rapi, said that he was also unhappy that a taxi rank had been provided for drivers to allow them to wait in Tudor Square, but that most seemed to be parked on St. George Street.
"I don't know what's going on in that area at times, it's absolute chaos," he remarked.
Clr. Lawrence Blackhall agreed and felt himself that the limit should be 15 mph rather than 20 mph.
"I'd rather action was taken now, before the evidence is an injury or worse!" he told his colleagues.
