A SEAL pup has been named ‘Boscastle’ after being rescued from the rocks in the village harbour.
The seal was discovered on Saturday, December 7, on the rocks in the harbour at Boscastle by a group of young visitors, who reported the sighting to the National Trust centre.
The team at the centre went to take a look at the pup, before contacting a volunteer from the British Marine Divers volunteer networks, who soon showed up to assist in rescuing him. Originally named ‘Fergal’, the seal was soon renamed ‘Boscastle’ before making the trip to the RSPCA in West Hatch, Somerset for further care.
The National Trust Boscastle team wrote on its Facebook page after the rescue: “Many thanks to our amazing members of the public, who were looking after his safety until help arrived.”
