IN keeping with the national picture the Conservatives came out on top in the district and town elections.

The Tories held the balance of power at East Hampshire District Council, with 19 new faces stepping into the fold.

The district council now consists of 42 Conservatives and two Liberal Democrats - both representing Whitehill wards. The seats of Liberal Democrats Sally Pond (Whitehill Chase) and Alan Water-house (Whitehill Pinewood) were uncontested.

Reflecting the Parliamentary results, it seemed East Hampshire voters generally chose blue whenever they got the chance.
