MARGARET Frost was delighted the weather stayed dry for her Bude Town Band new hall fundraising party at her Rustic Tea Garden recently.

She said: “Weren’t we lucky? About 4 o’clock the biggest, blackest cloud you’ve ever seen came over, and I said to my sister we have had it tonight! But it stayed dry — it was just lovely.”

Margaret is now in her 52nd year of being on the Bude Town Band committee, and every year she does something to help the band with its finances. The money from this event will be going to the new band hall fund.

The proceeds from the party are still being counted. It is hoped work will start at the end of this year to build the new band hall in the next field to Morrisons supermarket.
