THE CHILDREN'S Opportunity Centre in Coleford has become the chosen charity of a bank branch in the Forest.

The centre, which helps children with special needs and their families, was chosen from a shortlist selected by staff and customers of TSB in Cinderford.

The partnership between the branch and the centre was kicked off with the presentation of a cheque for £328.

Hayley Badman from the centre received the cheque from branch manager Chris Hales and Forest MP Mark Harper.

Fundraising for the centre began with staff riding more than 100 miles on an exercise bike at the branch in High Street which raised £160.

The bank is also encouraging staff to spend a working day volunteering at the opportunity centre.

Branch manager Chris Hales  said: "I'm delighted to announce the Forest of Dean Children's Opportunity Centre as our first local charity partner in Cinderford.

"The Forest of Dean Children's Opportunity Centre does some amazing work in the area and it was really important to us to pick a charity partner that gives so much back to the community.
