Staff from Sainsbury's Tenby recently presented a cheque for £1,752 to Greg Mott, from Haverfordwest, who received it on behalf of the Harriet Davis Trust. Greg and his family had been on holiday at Harriet's House, one of the trust's four Pembrokeshire properties.
The trust has been the local charity partner for the store over the past year and the donation, funded from the proceeds of 5p the Bags for Life, has been just one of the benefits of the collaboration.
Lorraine Jones, PR ambassador, said: "Our store is at the heart of the local community and it's important that we play our part to support it. When we heard about the planned refurbishment of Harriet's House and everything the trust does to support disabled children and their families, we just wanted to help as much as we could."
Elizabeth Sleight, development manager for the Harriet Davis Trust, said: "Being chosen as the local charity partner has been fantastic for us as we've received funding not only from the Bags for Life scheme, but also from in-store fundraising by the staff and from Sainsbury's Welsh Community Grant Fund. We are so grateful to Sainsbury's for all their help and support, they've been brilliant."
