A SCHEME to designate an area of Teignmouth as the 'arts quarter' has taken another step forward.

A cluster of art studios, shops and a theatre group have sprung up around Northumberland Place and the back beach in recent years, and now many traders want it to be officially promoted to attract more visitors.

The town council is backing the initiative, and holding a referendum among businesses to discover how many are in favour and decide on a marketing logo. The results will be known in early August.
