Local artist, Nicky May, will be hosting a small solo show in Bude Castle from Friday, October 28, to Thursday, November 17.
The show will be open from 10am to 4pm daily and entry is free.
Nicky said: “Most of my paintings this year have been about Cornish hedgerows. Their changing colours and textures through the seasons have filled my imagination, and these thoughts and feelings have ended up on a procession of large canvases.
“My process is largely intuitive, based around the harmonies of a limited palette. I make marks suggested by the structures and plants I have seen while walking the lanes, like the exuberance of foxgloves or the dense olive green dots of meadow sweet after it has gone to seed.
“I don’t think this idea has finished with me yet, but here are a selection of paintings from Spring to Autumn, with a few moments of being by the sea thrown in: all in all, a celebration of captivating Cornwall.
