THE Devon conservation charity Moor Trees have planted over 8,000 trees at Upcott Farm, Broadwoodwidger, over the past two years, and are now looking for more local landowners to join their scheme.
The charity celebrated 20 years and the planting of more than 90,000 native trees across Dartmoor on Saturday, March 23, at a special ceremony led by patrons Stephan Harding a founding member of Schumacher College, Dartington, and chairman of the RSPB Kevin Cox.
Working with local landowners, Moor Trees has planted broadleaf trees on more than 200 acres around Dartmoor and the South Hams since 1999.
Volunteers turn out on Sundays throughout the winter months to plant oak, birch, willow, hawthorn, holly and many more, grown especially in nurseries at Dartington and near Diptford from seed collected in the area.
Interested landowners, and potential supporters and volunteers, can visit www.moortrees.org to find more information and contact details.
