The Cymdeithas Genedlaethol Hywel Dda in Whitland is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

The Memorial Garden and Interpretive Centre was opened by the late Lord Elwyn Jones, the former Lord Chancellor on Monday, June 29, 1985.

The Centre recalls and celebrates the achievements of Hywel Dda (Hywel the Good), King of Wales during the first half of the 10th century.

Local dignitaries and those associated with the inception of the Centre were invited to listen to songs and recitals from local students. The entertainments and talks ended with a sumptuous buffet.
