THE success story continues at Lifton company Ambrosia as employees from across all departments achieve awards and qualifications. The Ambrosia factory in Lifton, part of Premier Foods, the biggest food manufacturing company in the UK, held a presentation day on Thursday, April 2. Factory general manager Steve Pretty presented the awards to all of the successful employees; he thanked them for their contribution and their time to achieve the awards, adding that their achievements were helping to drive the Lifton site to even higher standards. He also thanked Mr Michael Williams of North Devon College for his support in assessing and gaining the funding for the NVQ programme. Presentations handed over to the successful employees consisted of a mixture of different awards for individual achievements in different categories. NVQ level 2 in Food Manufacturing certificates were awarded to site operators Simon Carpenter, Andrew Strong, Rob Smith, Mark Flanders, Chris Gliddon and Rob Upchurch. Intermediate Certificates in Applied HACCP Principles went to Tim Styles (quality systems manager), Hazel Salmon (training administrator) and Derek Humphreys and Paul Tithecott (engineering co-ordinators). Level 4 award in Food Safety Management for Manufacturing went to Hazel Salmon. John Giles, the site training and development manager, praised the great achievement of those individuals collecting their certificates. The awards showed the commitment of employees as well as Premier Foods to encourage its entire staff to develop their skills. The next group of operators have already started their NVQs, with many other site employees working towards individual knowledge based skills. They are planning to have presentation days on a regular basis.
