THE weekend saw the end of another fantastic Tintagel Carnival week, with the ever-popular grand carnival parade.

Starting from Wickets Field, Bossiney, on Saturday, August 5, and wending its way through the village and back, 54 brilliant entries, including ten visiting carnival royalty and marching bands, entertained a packed village crowd.

This year also marks the most number of entries for the carnival ever!

The overall carnival winning entry was Delabats — the Boys from Delabole — and the Best Comedy Award went to Barbie Breakout from the May family and co.

The Best Dressed Collector trophy was jointly won by Mr Potato Head by Mary Dyer and Red Indian by Hillary D’Souza.

Phil Aston, vice chairman of Tintagel Carnival, said: “What a fantastic carnival parade! A big thank you to all the entries for their amazing contributions, the carnival committee and volunteers for all their hard work and the large village crowd for digging deep into their pockets to help raise money to allow the carnival to continue and donate to local charities.

“A big thank you again this year goes to Rafael Krasnodebski of Ye Olde Malt House Inn for running the brilliant Tintagel carnival radio, aided by work experience boy, roving reporter, the crew and all who contributed to the programming.

“Next year, more than ever, we are in need of new committee members and, or, volunteers to help organise and run carnival week. Come on Tintagel, if you want a carnival next year, we need you to volunteer — come forward and join the committee. No volunteers, no carnival!”
