A FORMER MasterChef winner has described his two awards for his dining pubs as ‘an amazing achievement’.
Mr Piotrowski, executive chef and director at the Springer Spaniel, said: “It’s an amazing achievement. It’s been hard work over the last four years.
“I think MasterChef profiled me to start off but now I just think it is about the food, and I think it’s about the informal dining experience.
“My pubs are for anyone with any wage packet. Whoever you are you can still come and eat. I think people feel relaxed when they come here.
“The front of house is really relaxed and kept low-key.”
They are coming into their fifth year at the Treby Arms and their second year at the Springer Spaniel.
Mr Piotrowski said of the Treburley pub: “The Springer is a hard place to crack as it’s in the middle of nowhere between Launceston and Callington.
“Ali Fraser, head chef, and Beth and Vickie Martin who run the Springer Spaniel, they do a lot of hard work and it does come down to the guys and girls that work there every day.”
Every year the editors of the Good Pub Guide take the opportunity to rate the very finest dining pubs across Great Britain.
The Good Pub Guide 2016 is published by Ebury Press at £15.99. It features more than 5,000 pubs, organised county by county. This year the Guide welcomes 117 new entries.
Pub-goers’ recommendations, backed up by editor inspections, determine who makes it into the guide year on year.
