Summer is a busy time if you are a member of the Holsworthy Detachment of Devon Army Cadet Force (ACF).

It has certainly been ‘go go go!’ for the unit of 30 young people aged between 12 and 18 years.

There was success in training at a weekend camp held at Okehampton Camp in June with achievements in both military and adventurous training assessments.

Following the ACF’s ethos of encouraging young people to support their local communities Cadets have assisted with the ‘Proper Wooly’ charity event, the Ruby Run, Vintage Rally and Ashwater Show, along with this week’s Holsworthy and Stratton Agricultural Show.

The annual fieldcraft exercise weekend in July saw the senior cadets preparing and leading their sections in a competitive and challenging military exercise, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Fourteen cadets have returned from Crowborough in East Sussex where they undertook a 12-day summer camp, enjoying all aspects of ACF training as well as a day out at Thorpe Park.

Holsworthy ACF is now recruiting, if you are from 12 years and looking for a hobby where you learn new skills, make friends and have ‘loads of fun’ call Detachment Commander 2Lt Jim Harvey 07812 495229 for more information or visit ‘Holsworthy ACF’ on Facebook.
