THROUGHOUT March and April, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are running ‘Have a Go’ events for everyone interested in being an on-call firefighter — including one at Hatherleigh Fire Station.
These events will give a real overview of the role, including information on what time commitments would be like, as well as the strength and fitness expectations required.
Recruitment and retention officer, Caroline Anderson said: “Being an on-call firefighter is a big commitment. But being in a team of likeminded, professional people while learning life skills you never expected to, is both rewarding and fun. Why wouldn’t you want to be paid to help your community, it’s probably the best job in the world!”
A Have a Go event will be held at Hatherleigh Fire Station covering the following recruiting stations: Holsworthy, Okehampton, North Tawton, Chulmleigh, Appledore,Torrington, Braunton, Woolacombe, Barnstaple, Combe Martin, Ilfracombe, South Molton, and Witheridge.
The event will be on Saturday, April 27, between 9.30am and 1pm, with applications needed by Tuesday, April 23.
If anyone is interested in finding out more about these on-call opportunities, email your expression of interest to [email protected] please note the deadline dates for each event.
