THE funeral arrangements for Cornwall’s beloved comedian Jethro (Geoff Rowe) have been published, and invite all those who wish to pay their last respects to join a special procession and service.
Jethro sadly passed away on Tuesday, December 14, after contracting COVID-19.
The procession will begin in Lewdown and move on to Truro ahead of the funeral service in the Cathedral on Monday, January 3.
The family said in a Facebook post: “We would like to give the opportunity for as many people as possible to be able to say a final “Goodbye” to Jethro next Monday 3rd January 2022.
“Everyone is most welcome to stand along the route to watch Jethro pass as we take him on his final journey to his beloved Cornwall.”
Starting from the car park of Jethro’s Club in Lewdown (EX20 4DS) at 10am, Jethro will then pass through Lifton at 10.10am and then continue on to Truro.
Once in Truro the procession will resume at 11.30am at the War Memorial and travel through Boscawen Street, on into King Street and then make its way to Truro Cathedral where the funeral service will commence at noon.
There will be speakers outside the cathedral relaying the service for those who are unable to get a seat inside.
The family continued: “After the public funeral service we will be having a small private burial and we ask you all to kindly respect our privacy and allow us to say our final “Goodbyes” on our own.
“Sadly due to COVID there will be no formal wake, we ask you all to go and remember Jethro in your own unique way.
“No flowers please, but donations will be greatly accepted and will go to the Children’s Hospice South West. A collection box will be outside the cathedral from 11am until 1.30pm on the day.”
They added: “We hope to see as many people as possible as we take Jethro home to his final resting place in Cornwall.”
