FIRE crews were called to a domestic property after alarms were raised.

It later transpired it was due to not fully extinguished smoking contents.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: “One pump from Holsworthy was mobilised to a fire alarm sounding within a property by a concerned neighbour. On arrival our crew discovered a smoke logged flat. The incident commander requested supporting appliances due to upgrading the incident to a fire domestic, our control room mobilised Hatherleigh and Bude fire crews to support us.

“We investigated the property and discovered some smoking contents in the living room not fully extinguished and removed the items from the property. Thankfully the incident did not escalate any further and the occupier returned home to a house full of firefighters.”
