Launceston Town Council have installed a new defibrillator in the town.
The new equipment joins the recently installed noticeboard on the Stourscombe Estate.
Residents previously had to make their way to either Tesco on Tavistock Road or Lawhitton Village Hall if they needed to use a defibrillator — the council hope this addition will fill the gap in between.
While the council initially thought this would be a simple process, there were several hurdles which delayed the installation.
Mayor of Launceston Cllr Helen Bailey said: “There were challenges of where this could be placed due to cabling requirements and that there was no power source in place.
“Normally these things are attached to public buildings or old telephone boxes etc.
“Estates and properties manager, Martin Cornish has at last solved the issues and challenges he was up against and we are very grateful for his commitment to make this happen — some days were very frustrating during the process.
“This will be regularly checked by the Town Council along with the other defibs around town to ensure they are always in working order — thank you to everyone involved in making this happen.”
