We have had many great reasons to celebrate in Holsworthy this year. Which included but were not limited to:
The King’s Coronation in May, which was fantastically supported and was a great community celebration. Next up was St Peter’s Fair week, which as always, provided much joy and merriment for the town, with the Pretty Maid ceremony and the band ‘Not The Cowboys’ being a particular highlight for me.
There was also our annual carnival which had the most floats I’d seen for many a year. A fantastic effort was put in by all who entered.
At the beginning of this month the town council held its annual Christmas lights switch on, which saw large crowds descend on the square for much festive fun. On a practical level I was personally pleased to see more streetlights finally erected in Stanhope Park.
Speaking of Stanhope Park, it was great to see our cricket club lift the T20 trophy. It was also very pleasing to see our youth teams in all sports continue to grow and flourish. I would like to take a minute to thank all the people who volunteer their time with the many amazing groups in town who truly do help Holsworthy stand out as having the best community spirit around.
Wishing all residents of Holsworthy and surrounding areas a very special Christmas and a prosperous new year.
Cllr Nigel Kenneally
Mayor of Holsworthy
