THREE local runners recently took on the TCS London Marathon to raise funds for Lifton Community Centre.

Paul Heywood had the official charity place and raised to date £2,500, whilst Vin and Kevin Marshall (residents of Lifton) raised a further £500.

Funds raised will go towards the purchase and installation of new solar panels. The community centre provides facilities for many local groups and individuals, bringing people together from the village and surrounding area. Solar panels will help to reduce the electricity bills and in return will help to keep hire charges at a reasonable rate, so everyone can continue enjoying their activities.

Vin said: “I would like to thank each and every person that sponsored the three of us in these very challenging times. I’d also like to thank ST Lanes, Tinhay for allowing us to put a sponsor form in their shop.”

Kevin ran the marathon in 3.37.29; Paul in his first London marathon ran a personal best in 5.04.05 and Vin completed in 5.21 29.

Vin now in her 70’s achieved the qualifying time for next year’s race.

There is still time to support the cause by sponsoring Vin, Kevin and Paul directly or via 2024tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/lavinia-marshall
